The Olympian Hymnal
The third prayer book - twenty god-prayers that all stack, unlocked by binding and reading the Hymnal, with the twelve strongest locked behind scrolls of the gods.
What the Hymnal is
Olympus has three prayer books. The stock Prayers and Curses are unchanged; the
Olympian Hymnal adds a third - twenty prayers named for the gods, each one written to beat the best stock prayer or curse for the same job (Piety's 20-25% becomes 30%, Turmoil's 15/23/15% becomes a flat 35%, Soul Split's 1/40 becomes 1/20).
Two rules make it its own thing:
Light as many Hymnal prayers as you like at once - there are no conflict groups. Ward of Ares and Hunger of Hades can both be up.
The drain of the whole set doubles for every prayer past the first. Two prayers cost twice, three cost four times, four cost eight. Pick a build; don't light the book.
Every prayer has a Prayer level written on it (1 to 99), shown on its hover panel. They are not enforced yet - reading the Hymnal lights the whole book at once. Expect that to change.
Getting the book
The Hymnal is bound from five parts. None of them drop - every one is bought:
| Part | Where | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Nike - Prestige Points Store, Stoa of Shops | 1,250 Prestige points | |
| Nike - Prestige Points Store | 1,250 Prestige points | |
| Zeus - Voting Rewards Store, or Hermes - Olympian Point Store, or Nike | 50 Voting Points / 250,000 Olympian Points / 50 Prestige points | |
| Zeus, Hermes or Nike | 50 Voting Points / 250,000 Olympian Points / 50 Prestige points | |
| Zeus, Hermes or Nike | 50 Voting Points / 250,000 Olympian Points / 50 Prestige points |
All three shopkeepers stand in the Stoa of Shops, the east temple on the home island. So the book is 2,650 Prestige points if you buy the lot from Nike, or 2,500 plus 150 Voting Points.
The twenty prayers
Drain is per tick before the stacking rule; light is under 0.5, moderate under 1.0, heavy 1.0 and up.
Stat prayers - the Piety killers
| Prayer | Level | Drain | Effect | Beats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.3 | +30% Attack | Piety 20% | |
| 5 | 0.3 | +30% Strength | Piety 23% | |
| 10 | 0.3 | +30% Defence | Piety 25% | |
| 20 | 0.3 | +30% Ranged accuracy and damage | Rigour 20/23% | |
| 25 | 0.3 | +30% Magic accuracy and damage | Augury 25% | |
| 80 | 1.0 | +35% Attack, Strength and Defence | Turmoil 15/23/15% | |
| 85 | 1.0 | +35% Ranged, Magic and Defence | Rigour + Augury |
Storm of Zeus is the melee build's one prayer; Fire of Prometheus is the hybrid's. The three cheap lines are for when you want one stat for 0.3 a tick and nothing else.
The Wards - protection and more
| Prayer | Level | Drain | Blocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 0.5 | Melee | |
| 55 | 0.5 | Ranged | |
| 60 | 0.5 | Magic |
Each Ward is the stock protection prayer and the deflect curse in one - the hit is blocked and thrown back - and adds two things neither had: half of everything the Ward blocks heals you, and every other hit that lands is 15% softer. They are overhead prayers, so bosses that read your head icon (Geryon, Cerberus, the "pray or die" mechanics) see them as the stock prayers. They are also three of the eight prayers that never need a scroll.
Offence and sustain
| Prayer | Level | Drain | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 | 0.4 | Heals 2% of max HP every 2 seconds - real regeneration, where Rapid Heal only doubles the natural tick. | |
| 30 | 0.4 | +40% damage from your Summoning familiar and your battle pet. | |
| 35 | 0.3 | Run energy never runs out, and 1 in 20 mystery boxes you open comes back to you. | |
| 40 | 0.5 | +30% damage to anything below 30% of its hitpoints - an execute. | |
| 45 | 0.5 | +5% drop rate and 1 in 50 drops is doubled. | |
| 70 | 1.5 | A twentieth of the damage you deal comes back as hitpoints (Soul Split: a fortieth). Overhead. The heaviest drain in the book. | |
| 90 | 1.2 | Every blow and spell deals 30% more damage - the flat multiplier. | |
| 92 | 0.6 | Boosted stats last 15% longer and every attack lands one tick sooner. | |
| 95 | 0.8 | +15% critical strike chance and +50% critical strike damage. | |
| 99 | 1.0 | Every hit you take is 15% lighter. |
Scrolls of the gods
Eight of the twenty come free with the Hymnal - Blade, Arm, Bulwark, Aim, Mind and the three Wards. The other twelve are locked until you read the scroll that teaches them; a scroll is consumed on reading and the unlock is permanent per character.
Set one - the first ten
| Scroll | Teaches |
|---|---|
| Storm of Zeus | |
| Hunger of Hades | |
| Reaper of Thanatos | |
| Reins of Poseidon | |
| Radiance of Helios | |
| Fire of Prometheus | |
| Eye of the Titans | |
| Sands of Kronos | |
| Favour of Tyche | |
| Anvil of Hephaestus |
Set two - the wanderers
| Scroll | Teaches |
|---|---|
| Stride of Hermes | |
| Heart of Gaia |
The other eight scrolls of the second set (Ouranos, Triton, Apollo, Selene, Athena, Asclepius, Cerberus, Nyx) exist as items but teach nothing yet - they are reserved for prayers still to be written.
The scrolls have no drop table or shop yet in the game data. The book is playable end to end once the items reach a loot table; until then it is an admin-spawn unlock.
Builds
Because the drain doubles per extra prayer, the book rewards two or three prayers, not ten. Some sets that pay for themselves:
Melee bossing - Storm of Zeus + the boss's Ward. 1.5 a tick doubled = 3.0. +35% to all three melee stats, protection, deflection, healing off the block and 15% off everything else.
Sustain tank - Ward + Hunger of Hades. Every hit you land heals a twentieth; every hit you block heals half of it. Expensive (2.0 doubled = 4.0) - bring the potions.
Execute burst - Radiance of Helios + Reaper of Thanatos + Eye of the Titans for the Nemean Lion's Winded window or a Tartarus boss under 30%. Three prayers = x4 drain, so light them for the window and douse them after.
Ranged / magic - Fire of Prometheus alone, or with Aim / Mind if you are pure one style (the +30% line stacks on the +35% line - at double drain).
Slayer and drops - Favour of Tyche + Sands of Kronos. Cheap (1.1 doubled = 2.2), +5% drop rate, a doubled drop in fifty, and everything lands a tick sooner.
Skilling and box-opening - Stride of Hermes on its own. 0.3 a tick for infinite run and a twentieth of your mystery boxes back.
Nothing else about Prayer has changed - bones, altars and Prayer potions all work as before, and the altar at home recharges. A full Hymnal build burns points fast, so the Prayer cap and your restore supply are the real limit.
